A former colonial-style hacienda with more than 300 years of history; considered by the INAH as a historical monument.

To understand its significance, let’s get to know a little about Altixco, whose name means “Water on the surface of the earth.” Before the arrival of the Spanish, this region belonged to two lordships: Calpan and Huaquechula.

In 1519, with the arrival of the Spanish, they discovered the fertility of this valley, awakening their interest in settling in the site. By the year 1570, it gained its independence from the capital, calling it Villa de Carreón, a town that produced wheat and flour.

It is known that the first construction of the place was around 1540, little is recorded of the viceregal period, there is a record of the first owner of the hacienda in 1801, who was Don Juan Sánchez Vizcaíno, with the passage of time the owner changed and Starting in 1931, for testamentary reasons, Mrs. Josefina Pinzón de Escobedo divided the property into two parts: “Rancho Cristo el Grande” and “Rancho Cristo el Chico”, which is the site that today houses the current Hacienda de Santo Cristo. For many years it was abandoned and its remodeling lasted more than three years, respecting its original appearance.
Currently it has become one of the most welcoming hotels and a place for large events
